Happy Halloween!
I hope all of you had a safe and wonderful Halloween this year! The girls had a great time doing an old fashioned trick or treat this year. For the past eight or so years the valley has done away with traditional door to door trick or treating and instead sponsored a "Trunk or Treat" at the fair grounds but this year, due to lack of interest and the popularity of Church Trunk or Treats, there was no community Trunk or Treat. So, we just went around to about six or seven family and friends and our own neighborhood. Don't worry, they got plenty of candy doing just that!
Their buckets were heaping full before they even got a chance to go around the neighborhood! We were home by 7:30 to make chili and treats for the few friends that were spending the night for a Halloween sleep-over. We even had the music up so loud we didn't notice the toilet papering going on in the front yard! I really wish I woulda got pics of that but the girls had it all cleaned up within minutes!
I am personally happy to have it all over! The last few weeks have been nothing but sewing, decorating and making treats for the various class parties and functions! Yay for a break in between Halloween and Thanksgiving!

The girls looked so pretty in their costumes this year! *Warning, bragging rights to follow*

Deni originally wanted to be a Mermaid but I couldn't find any fabric I thought would make a pretty and not too cheesy Mermaid costume. So at the last minute she decided she could live with being The Tooth Fairy. This was nice also because I only had to add to a leotard and make a skirt! Well, I did take the time to make these little gems:
Yeah, those are teeth earrings and a necklace I made out of molding clay. I used my fondant tools the sculpt them and they turned out pretty well.

True wanted to be an Angel from the get go. So I made her a gown and found some realistic feathered wings and halo to go with it. She looked so pretty with her wavy hair (did you know Angels have wavy hair? Me either!) and her golden makeup.

Sage hit that age where she didn't want to be "cutesy" anymore but instead something "Gothic" or morbid. I managed to create something a dark sort of pretty without the gore! We found the dress for ten bucks at Ross, I made an under skirt and a necklace and hat and voila! Victorian Dead Girl!

They all really did look very pretty, too bad you can't see the oodles of glitter and makeup they had on in the pics!

Funny story of the night was when we went to a neighbors house and there were two human sized "dummies" sitting on either side of a walkway, the girls just knew they'd jump out and scare them. Sage and True refused to go up the walkway instead standing by the road and talking about how they'd punch them if they jumped out. Then the four year old Tooth Fairy said "I'm not afraid" and walked right up to the house and didn't even jump when they moved. She really showed up her two older sisters! This is, of coarse, because she's the devil in dimples and curls!

Well, as I write this, the slumber party of girls are freaked out because the lights in the living room just flickered and they now want me to go with them to the kitchen for drinks and snacks.
I don't think they'll be watching anything remotely scary tonight as planned (Monster House) as I do need to get some real sleep soon! I think I'd better go dig out a Care Bear movie!

Happy Samhain/Day of the Dead/All Hallow's Eve/Halloween to all of you!
