May/June update part 2 "Birthday Basher"

Having two kids with birthdays just two weeks apart is tiring. I feel for those who's kids are even closer together! I think Holidays should be a family affair so Birthdays are the one day made just for you.

Sure, I've contemplated throwing Sage and True's Birthdays together for a double party several times. When it comes down to it though, I always change my mind. I just want to make sure they have their own day to know how important it is that they are here in this world.

Having two big celebrations within two weeks of each other is exhausting and expensive but totally worth how happy it makes them.

So I'm happy with the way things turned out and even happier it's all over! Well, at least for now. I face a whole new challenge in October when it's Deni's turn and then it's bam, bam, bam! Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas immediately after! No rest for the wicked!

True decided on a Super Hero theme this year. I made a post already showing all the capes I sewed for the occasion. Of coarse, I made way too many as I always do, because I have this fear of there not being enough! One year we had almost ten extra people because some of the neighborhood kids had friends and family visiting and it was nice to have extra and be able to invite them to join the fun. So I'm always a good girl scout!

We had some cancellations due to the several sudden deaths in the valley and the nasty crud that was going around. Though, even with the small group we had fun.

I made three different invite samples for True to choose from. Bless her little heart, she chose the one that took the least time! I just threw it together on photoshop! I was so glad she didn't choose the one I did with my scrap booking supplies because it took an hour! These are what we sent out:

Yeah, that's my hubby! He was "The Birthday Basher". What a cool guy huh?! Then again, he was born to play the villain! Haha!

Turbo True was dressed and ready to greet her friends who would soon become Heroes in training. Here are some pics of Turbo True. She really got into it!

We did a Super Hero training camp where we practiced on a punching bag that had a picture of the Birthday Basher on it. We tossed balls at a pinata that was paper-mache'd to look like him as well. We defused balloon bombs that were strategically placed by the villian himself. Each time we completed a task we earned a piece of our Hero gear. When all was done everyone had a mask, wrist cuffs and a cape they designed themselves. Here are the capes they made:
Then we were ready for the final show down! The Birthday Basher came out to try to ruin the fun and we attacked him with...."No! Not silly string...my...only...WEAKNESS!!!". Yup, silly string! Actually, due to toxic fumes we really did almost kill the Birthday Basher!

When we had him defenseless and nearly unconscious from the fumes, he finally surrendered his evil logo!

All that battling had worked up everybody's appetite, so we had "Hero sandwiches". And of coarse Birthday dessert! The double chocolate chip with cream cheese frosting recipe True picked out. The crappy pic is the only one I took of them completely finished. Bummer. We had just enough time to show the newly reformed "Birthday Basher" what a good time was all about...so we played FREEZE DANCE!
And boy did he get into it! Afterwords, all the kids starting saying that they hoped their Birthdays were threatened by the "Birthday Basher". Hmmm, maybe I should hire him out?! Teehee!
