Gettin' into the Groove

It's been a month since the kids started school and we are finally finding our groove.
Ya know, the craziness that ensues when you have a bunch of different things to do at once and very little time to do it?! Like HOMEWORK!
Sage is in 5th grade this year and that means prepping for Middle School next year. She has soooo much homework I feel like I'm going back to school again!
Her day is split up between two teachers. Mrs. Ekinstam, her core teacher, teaches math, science and social studies. Then on the second half of her day Mrs. Hanevold teaches reading and writing. She has homework in every subject just about everyday. At first, we were spending an average of three hours a night doing homework. It really started to take away from the other two kids and we were feeling like pulling our hair out! So we sat her down and asked about her class schedule and when she mentioned "and then we have free time..." we saw our way out! So now Sage spends her "free time" in class working on homework! This makes EVERYONE happy! I am so proud of her and how hard she works.
True is in Mrs. Shumway's second grade class and is doing great. She's discovered the joy of reading recently and is already on her fourth book in the "Amber Brown" series. She's gotten a hundred percent on all but one of her spelling tests. (And came home saying she sucked eggs, in which I had to explain wasn't a very nice thing to say!)
Deni is whizzing by in preschool. She loves to read, and her handwriting is almost as good as Sage & True's! She catches on really fast and is always happy when she can read a little higher level book.
Ok, bragging over! So yeah, finally finding our groove! We somewhat have a schedule and our evenings aren't so chaotic anymore. Heck, we even have a little bit of mom & dad time back! (Obviously, three posts in a row!)
Here are a few pics of everyone just chillen after homework. Sage is practicing her drums and refused to look up at the camera because "mom, I'm trying to concentrate!" I apparently mess up her rudiments when I'm trying to take pictures of her!

Hope you are all finding your own "grooves".

Just when we find our groove something changes and we start all over again. Does that ever happen to you?
